Wedding!

It's come and gone, and despite trials and tribulations, Lord and Lady Hedgehog were fully costumed and had a terrific time. Haven't found any photos specifically of us just yet, nor have I extracted my own shots from my camera, but here's one nicked from the book of face of the happy couple.

Of course, I now have to clear the decks and tidy up the various bits of sewing detritus that have spread themselves most unaccountably all over the house.

The complicating factor is, as is natural for me, as soon as I clean down one project I can't help but start thinking of the next. Just so happens this year's Hogswatch is going to rather neatly fishtail with the 50th anniversary of Dr Who, I think it's safe to suggest that I might have a cunning plan...

Progress?

I've got half an overdress. Now I just need the other half and the underdress... but at least there are hedgehogs :)

Aaaandbreathe...

...Pfoof.

Dad is out of the hospital.

I've managed to have a couple of productive evenings and have only got a small percentage of the necessary sewing for next weekend's wedding left to go.

The Long-Suffering Boyfriend continues to be amazing.

I've got 12 consecutive days off coming up as of Thursday.

Cutting out...

Making a start on Lord Hedgehog's coat.

Supervised by Sir Bagpuss, of course.

Progress?

I think I'm going with the cotte and overdress rather than the kimono style.

And here are some embroidered hedgehogs!

Brainwave!

You may remember awhile back, I was getting excited about being invited to my friend's historical wedding.

Since my rota came out and I realised I can go, I've had a lot of trouble finding the right patter to make the long-suffering boyfriend's Littlefinger-esque outfit.

Here's what we're going for:
(The one on the right, of course)

I was pretty much near defeat this evening on my third trawl through the interwebs. I'd even turned to the hideously overpriced realm of Etsy in my torment. All the men's costumes were too piratey or soldiery and not nearly possessed of that almost ecclesiastical, priestl... Wait. Priestly? Like... A priest?!

Nailed it.

This is perfect for the basis of the coat; I can easily make it more waisted and a couple of gores if I need to. I'll only have to shorten it a little bit and I've got some brilliant Norwegian metal frogs (very much like on Tyrion's costumes) for the front closure. I do have to say, I feel like a complete genius.

Now all I have to do is decide what I'm wearing!
