Melchie vs Etsy

Hullo! Melchett here.

Since getting the new laptop (thanks, human's unattended credit card!) Plink and I have been having a good look on the internet for other things that we could possibly purchase. Today we hit up Etsy and had a rummage for some top Makie desirables.
Surfing
Got coffee. Got doughnut. Got a BEAR HAT. Locked and loaded!
First up, we reckon this pattern book would make a great present for our human! Loads of trousers, shirts and coats. Apparently, if they fit the big-headed dolly with the weird eyes, they'll probably fit us.

Next, this cute little dress. I'm not so keen, Plink think's it's awesome.

A fancy jug like this would make our drinking evenings far more fun, obviously. This is hand blown glass, would you believe?! The colours! The pattents! The SIZE!
Completely astounding work by Kivaford
Oh, and we'll have this for the lab too.

Finally, here's one to break the bank...
You've got to click through to this listing to see all the superb details.

No, it's not a daft dolly in a silly hat, it's a completely gorgeous, fully-furnished des-res of Makie proportions, with sofa, fireplace, cosy chair and curtains! Personally if I could have one bit, it would be the hat. But hey, I think I'll just press for the whole darned lot.

Right! Off to the B+Q website to buy the human some woodworking tools for her birthday. Yeah!

On the subject of face-ups.

In vanishing rapidly down the portal known as 'doll collecting' (which is, incidentally, not something I intend on doing. A couple of Makies is plenty!), I've noticed that as is always the case with something creative, the owners of the items just can't keep their hands off of 'em.

I have to say, I'm absolutely in awe of some of the work out there. A quick shuffle through the 'Blythe custom' group on Flickr and you can find examples of superb work from around the world.

There are eyelids with dainty paintings, piercings galore, a whole host of vampires and these gorgeous calavera designs.

Of course, we can't leave Makie too far behind, so I was completely delighted to find that the community has attracted a supremely talented artist on board, Sioux.

Mushroom, Sioux's Makie, helping out with the design process.
Apparently this isn't her best work and just a trial run, but look how delicately this enhances the features. The brush work around the eyes is astonishing.

The eyes! The lashes! The lips! THE HAT!
*faints*

From Makie to MAGIC
Sioux, you can come and do your 'not best work' for me any day of the week!

Haunt's Hold Couture Collection

Here's a gorgeous bit of Makie Couture that reminds me rather of a Ghost catwalk look.
Grisette
Grisette rocking the Mean and Moody look.

This is Grisette, a Makie named after a courtesan who definitely knows how to pose for the camera. She's totally rocking the pink hair and this rumpled linen number. I love the simple lines, the unfinished edges and the slight flare to the sleeves. Great work, Michelle!
